Torrey Pines Democratic Club

Newsletter March 2025

Dear Club Members and Friends,

Thank you to all our members who attended our March Club meeting. Thanks also to TPDC President Dwight Worden who moderated our discussions on local concerns and how we can best focus on our grassroots efforts in pursuing progressive justice. You can read Dwight’s summary of our discussions HERE.

Donald Trump and Elon Musk think this country belongs to them. We are fighting back!

They’re taking everything they can get their hands on—our health care, our data, our jobs, our services—and daring the world to stop them. This is a crisis, and the time to act is now.

On Saturday, April 5th, we’re taking to the streets to fight back with a clear message: Hands off!

Where and when:

San Diego: San Diego Civic Center Plaza, 12:00pm to 3:00pm
OR
Encinitas: Encinitas Blvd and El Camino Real, all four corners, 11:00am to 12:30pm

This mass mobilization day is our message to the world that we do not consent to the destruction of our government and our economy for the benefit of Trump and his billionaire allies. Alongside Americans across the country, we are marching, rallying, and protesting to demand a stop the chaos and build an opposition movement against the looting of our country.

A core principle behind all Hands Off! events is a commitment to nonviolent action. We expect all participants to seek to de-escalate any potential confrontation with those who disagree with our values.

Dear Club Members and Friends,

Please join us for our Club meeting on Thursday, March 27th, starting at 6:00pm (via Zoom). Our program this month be moderated by TPDC President Dwight Worden and will feature a dialogue on how we can best focus on our local grassroots efforts:

We want to hear from you!
What: Torrey Pines Democratic Club Open Forum on the Trump Administration’s impacts to our community.
When: March 27, 2025 at 6 PM on Zoom
Why:  Many democrats are worried about Trump and Musk and their efforts to dismantle our democracy. There is lots of effort at the state and national level to fight back and we encourage you to support those efforts. We don’t want to duplicate them. At the meeting we will provide links so you can learn about them.
Our program will focus on the local impacts to our schools, UCSD, to local workers and employers, to services for the poor, the undocumented, the homeless, the retired, to renters and landlords.  We want to hear from you about your experiences and those of your friends, co-workers, and neighbors. We will prepare a digest of feedback received and use that to formulate an action plan we can share. We will also be collaborating these priorities with other local Democratic clubs and the San Diego County Democratic Party.
Who Should Attend: Anyone interested in fighting back including all members, their friends and neighbors.

You can view our meeting Agenda HERE.
